I'm off interstate this weekend for a friend's wedding which got me thinking about summer and swimsuits as our destination is a beach town on the west coast. A friend at work is obsessed with this Aussie label Black Milk Clothing and suggested I check out some of their swimwear which feature some of the most awesome digital prints. James Lillis is the brains behind this operation and if you have the time I suggest you read about how he got his start in the fashion industry here. My favourite swimsuit is the Tiger swimsuit in the image at the top of this post. Black Milk don't just make swimsuits those they have leggings, boysuits, dresses, skirts tops and now shoes!!! that feature some of the most awesome prints. You can view the full range here.
I couldn't resist sharing these cute bookplates/ book labels that designer Helen Dardik posted on her blog earlier this year. There are four designs in total and you can download them from her blog here.
I found designer and illustrator Hillary Bird on Etsy and wanted to share some of her lovely artistic work on the blog today. A graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in textiles Hillary some has some pretty pieces for sale in her shop. I've picked out a few of my favourites :)
Hi everyone. How was your weekend? Hopefully it was relaxing where
ever you are in the world and whatever you were doing J
I've thought long
and hard about writing this post and decided that I would do it today. I
started this blog way back in 2010 at what was a turning point in my life and
it's been a great journey so far. I am continually amazed at how inspired I
feel when I see amazing prints, patterns and surface design in my everyday
life, at my work, on blogs, the internet, in fashion, when I'm shopping ....the
list goes on. When I see something I love it brings a smile to my face and
I am always surprised at the amazing talent [often undiscovered] that I am continually
finding to blog about.
But like everyone
I have a life outside my blog - work, family, friends, exercise, wedding
planning etc. etc. I've kept my blog ad free by choice because the blog is
about prints, patterns and surface design - it's the kind of blog that I would
want to go to read every day and not worry about ads distracting me.
I want to continue
to blog about amazing talent so I'm putting a call out on my blog for
submissions. If you are an Artist, Designer, Illustrator, Textile Designer, Fashion
Designer, Etsy shop owner, Blogger, Writer or anyone who has a connection to
prints, patterns and or surface design please email me about submitting some
work for the blog. Maybe you have an online store that sells printed fabrics,
maybe you design textiles, maybe you create cute handmade items using printed
fabrics or maybe you know of someone whose work would be perfect for the blog if
so then I would love to hear from you.
You can email me [Emily] at the email address below and please no
Today I'm wanted to bring you a post on the latest from Aussie label Gorman. Lisa Gorman and Artist Rhys Lee have collaborated on this new range available in stores and online now. I am currently loving printed summer pants so my pick from this range is the sugarcube pant!
One of my favourite Australian magazine publications "Frankie" has some great vintage inspired wallpapers that you can download for free from their website here. So why not treat your computer to a make over.
