While spending some time at the farm the other day I came across some great retro examples of surface prints and patterns. I photographed some of the retro designs to share with you here.

Oh Joy!

Joy Deangdeelert Cho is the amazing graphic designer and blogger behind one of my daily reads Oh Joy! Having started out as a graphic designer for the fashion industry this multi talented lady now designs textiles, stationery, packaging and branding from her studio which she started in 2005. 

In 2007 she launched her own stationery line which you can buy online here. I was lucky enough to receive one of her gorgeous notebooks as a present from my sister after she returned from a recent sojourn in New York City. Here are a few of my other favourites...................

Fashion Friday - Calico Vintage

Calico is an American store that sells their vintage fashion wares online. I always find vintage fashion items are a great source of inspiration for surface design. Here are some of the fashion prints from their current range that rock my world at the moment.

milk from a thistle

These gorgeous prints are the creation of Australian Textile Designer Danielle Atkinson. Danielle has worked for Signature Prints and also teaches textile printing in Sydney. Her clothing label "Milk From a Thistle" is hand printed and made in Australia and her latest range showcases her original repeat fabric designs.

Ana Romero

Ana Romero is a surface and textile designer who creates both graphic/vector based patterns and abstract/photo surface patterns. Her work has recently been featured in "The Exciting World of Pattern Design" published by German publisher Zeixs. Here are some of my favourites:
