The Colourful Sonia Delaunay

Bright, clean prints and pattern feel like they are exploding in the popularity in the modern day scene. However, they aren't a new phenomenon. There was this awesome artist named Sonia Delaunay began doing cool prints around 1910, and damn she was good.

She began painting in a style known as Orphism, which was a trend derived from Cubism and gave priority to colour and its position. Shortly after she began, she started to apply her Orphist artwork to fabrics, decoration, pottery, etc. I believe her art could easily be placed anywhere today and seem fresh and new.

But don't let me sway you, see for yourself

Here is a link to a great article from The New York Times if you wish to know more about this cool lady
